A Bit of History
Preston's at the end of Main street in Greenport is possibly the oldest ship's chandlery still in operation in the United States. Although no longer selling the minutiae required by square-rigged sailing vessels, Preston's is still a joy to wander though for any landlubber or Mariner. Included in their store are various types of shells, wonderful sailing books for adults and children, and maritime charts suitable for navigation or mounting on a wall.

.Andrew Rowsom, part owner of GLORY is a renowned sailor. He,his brother, Peter and longtime friend Don Jones are the team to beat aboard their Etchells during Wednesday night races. Having grown up in Orient, New York, Andrew has been a water rat his whole life. He prides himself on his humorous asides, his expert knowledge of marine hardware, and his ability to move 250 pound mushroom anchors by himself. Although Andrew doesn't have much time to go aboard GLORY, he can often be seen on the dock catching dock lines and making those humorous asides.
